John 1:1 In the beginning, was the Word,....
Children of Light
Defendant: Caiaphas the High Priest, and other priests and elders who plotted to kill Jesus
The judge asked Caiaphas, "High Priest, you have been charged with murder, and you are the mastermind. Your criminal charges are falsely accusing Jesus of blasphemy, plotting to kill Jesus, and crucifying him. Jesus was baptized and believed in God. You should be brothers. How did he blaspheme God?"
Caiaphas replied with conviction, "Jesus is a carpenter's son. How could he claim to be the Son of God? He preached everywhere, but what he said did not come from the Tanakh, the Hebrew bible. This is blasphemy against God. We judged him according to the Law. We are righteous."
The judge continued, "So Jesus' teachings are not the truth?"
Caiaphas replied firmly, "His words do not come from our holy Tanakh, so they are not God's words. They are definitely not the truth."
The judge then asked, "When you saw your followers and people believe in Jesus' teachings, were you jealous?"
One of the priests said, "Uh... I didn't pay close attention at that time, and I'm not sure."
Caiaphas replied firmly, "No, I didn't envy him. Look at my dignity. How could I envy a carpenter's son? I love God and I have vowed in front of the altar to dedicate my entire life to serving God. "
The judge continued to ask, "Jesus' teachings are about letting go of fame and fortune and loving others as oneself. He didn't teach people to break the law, but taught people to follow the law. Under his guidance, many wicked people turned away from evil and took the right path. Everything Jesus did was in line with God's will. Was it not your pride and prejudice that drove you to crucify such a merciful man?"
Caiaphas immediately responded, "We are proficient in the scriptures and have no prejudice. We are devout in our hearts and have no pride."
The judge asked again, "The law forbids killing, but you broke the law. Don't you have any sin?"
Caiaphas replied without shame," We are not sinful. Not only are we sinless, we also have merit. Didn't you say that Jesus came to sacrifice himself to redeem humanity? If we didn't crucify him, humanity couldn't be redeemed. What we thought and did was from God's spirit."
The judge said, "It's not up to you to decide whether what you did was from God's spirit. We know it. Now, let me ask you the final question, and you must answer in front of God: Do you have a clear conscience?"
Caiaphas resolutely said, "We have a clear conscience!"
The judge said finally, "God knows whether you are sinful or not. God also knows whether you have a clear conscience. God cannot be deceived. God's Way will repay you according to what you have done."
