John 1:1 In the beginning, was the Word,....
Insightful Interpretation of the Bible
john 1:1 In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 He was with God in the beginning.
These two verses are not from the Old Testament, nor are they likely from Roman culture; they are actually spoken by Jesus.
‘In the beginning’ means before the formation of the world. ‘The beginning’ means the start, and ‘in the beginning’ refers to the time before that, or ‘from eternity’. ‘The Word’ is the essence of universal truth. ‘God’ is the manifestation of this truth in heaven. ‘Son of God’ is the manifestation of this truth on earth. Therefore, God and the Son of God are one. The Word, God, and the Son of God are three in one. Therefore, the Word is with God.
1:3 Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.
Because the Word is God, everything is created through the Word. Everything that has been created was made through the Word, because the Word is the essence of universal truth. The Chinese sage Lao Tzu said, “Tao begat one; One begat two; Two begat three; Three begat all things.” Therefore, all things are also born from the Tao. Lao Tzu said this thousands of years ago in his book, the Tao Te Ching. From this, we can understand that the Word that Jesus speaks of is the same as the Tao that Lao Tzu speaks of, because everything is created through it, there is no difference.
1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all men.
In this Word, there is life, which is spiritual, not referring to physical life. spirituality is light within a person. Each one of us has this light within us. Light is the function of spirituality, which is wisdom. Through wisdom, we can understand the truth and believe in the existence of God. Those without wisdom will not believe in the existence of God.
1:5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it.
The wisdom shines in the darkness. Darkness refers to ignorance and dullness. Ignorance and dullness stem from human sin. Because human sin obscures the light, people lose wisdom and become dark, dull, and ignorant. Sin comes from satan. In fact, Satan is the personification of our ignorance. Sin cannot prevail over wisdom. That is to say, sin cannot conquer wisdom, so wisdom can ultimately overcome everything, even Satan.
