“nicolaitans” is a Biblical term, which Jesus mentioned in revelation.
Now let’s explain what does Nicolaitans mean.
In the bible, there is a position called priest.
This position does nothing except serving God.
In the Bible, a person in this position is called priest.
After Jesus’ ascension, He is still serving as a priest, fully committed to God.
Priests are fully committed to God.
God would like all His children to be priests and fully committed to Him.
Whereas lots of people crave materials, powers, and relationships, but are not devoted enough.
Jesus said: anyone who loves his parents, wife, children, brothers, sisters or anything more than me is not worthy of me.
If you love anything or anyone more than Christ, you are not worthy of being Christ’s disciple.
Many believers are not qualified here.
When greed arises, those who fear death can’t pay the price.
As a result, they can only be ordinary believers.
In spite of their belief in God , they cling to the world.
In the Old Testament times, lay people can’t communicate directly with God. God reaches the lay people only through priests.
Likewise, the lay people can only reach God through priests too. There is a mediator class between God and lay people.
These are the believers in the old testament times, namely, in Judaism.
Priests are the minority.
